• The Craigs Investment Partners Academy’s primary focus is to prepare our players to perform significantly and consistently for Northern Districts and ultimately the Northern Knights and New Zealand.
• The program’s philosophy is to ‘educate and empower’ our young cricketers to ‘optimise their performance’.
• The individualised 12 month - five phase high performance program was developed in consultation with Pat Wigley from CNS Clinic. Pat also accepted the role of the Academy’s athlete conditioning consultant.
• The yearly Academy intake consists of the best 20-30 young players within Northern Districts who are seen as part of the Northern Knights succession plan.
• Each year the player’s must contribute to ‘raising the standard’ of the Academy so they can ‘earn the right’ to be invited back.
• After three years involvement the players have the opportunity to attain an ND Academy ‘baggy’ cap. This is earned by demonstrating a high level of understanding of all facets of the program and how they have put these into practice.
• The significant work undertaken by of our program is made possible with the tremendous support of our major sponsor – Craigs Investment Partners. Craigs IP’s expertise plays an important role in transitioning our young players from amateurs to the professional environment.
• We exposed the players to some new concepts pre season, such as testing skills under fatigue and using new tools to aid learning with cricket specific skills. The District Association managers and coaching staff have to be congratulated on their willingness to embrace these and develop them within their own areas.
• With the tremendous support of Grant Bradburn and the Northern Knights team we have just held the first annual Academy v Northern Knights game played at Blake Park in Mount Maunganui. Being part of the Craigs Investment Partners Academy gives our twelve best young players the opportunity to match their skills each year against the strongest first class team in NZ.
