ALL ABOUT Northern Districts Cricket Association

Northern Districts Cricket covers an extensive area from the Far North to Taumarunui and Poverty Bay/Wairoa in the south. It excludes Auckland City from Manukau to Orewa.
While Northern Districts Cricket was established in 1953 it was on Christmas Day 1956 that a team representing the region played its first first-class match against Auckland at Seddon Park, resulting in a win to Northern Districts.
Northern Districts Cricket is involved at many levels within its boundaries with 6 district associations, 532 club and business house teams and 710 secondary and primary school teams.

The Northern Knights are Northern Districts Cricket’s flagship team and have won three domestic trophies in the past two years – the final year of the State Shield in 2008/09, the One Day Competition in 2009/10 and the Plunket Shield, also in 2009/10 in it’s first year back as New Zealand Cricket’s most prestigious award.
