HRV Cup - new Mole in the Camp

Well, after a couple of disappointing results we finally got ourselves a win in the Ford Trophy.

Actually, it was a pretty great result for the Knights at the Basin Reserve.

We played the Firebirds on Wednesday, minus our Knights-based BLACKCAPS, who were still set to return after their Aussie heroics.

So we played quite a young team against a strong Wellington side, but the boys stood up to the challenge.

A few of our more experienced batsmen got a bit of time in the middle against Wellington, while James Marshall fired a brilliant century to raise the spirits before heading into our HRV Cup opener against  the Canterbury Wizards this Sunday.

There is no shortage of confidence heading into the HRV Cup and I’m sure the BLACKCAPS boys are still buzzing from their victory, so that can only mean good things for the Knights.

Five of our BLACKCAPS are joining up with us in Rangiora, so it will be great to have the likes of Boult, Southee and Williamson back in the line-up.

Brett Hampton has also been included in the squad to face Canterbury and best you keep an eye on this kid – he could be a T20 star of the future.

The time apart when players are on international duty can affect the team, so at the moment we are just running through our game plan and making sure everyone is on the same page.

As always, we’re keen to start off with a win and everyone is looking forward to it.

This is the busiest time of the domestic season and we are looking forward to seeing our fans coming out to cheer us on – rain or shine.

Oh, and there is the small matter of Christmas coming up!

We’ve got our Y!NZ Northern Knights Christmas party on Monday, which should be a great laugh and with that I’ll finish my blog off with this question:

Which Northern Knights player is the worst (and most feminine…) dancer?

Cheers, "The Mole"
