Getting to know the Knights

With the silly season well and truly upon us, the Yahoo! Northern Knights’ Mole in the Camp gives us an insight into the team and its players.

Y!NZ Sport: Favourite Northern Knights moment of the year…

Mole in the Camp:  That would probably have something to do with Tim Southee. Tim is always involved in some interesting moments.

His banter with players and management is relentless and from a team point of view he is very entertaining!

Y!NZ Sport: Your favourite general sporting moment this year…

Mole in the Camp: I’d have to say the All Blacks winning the Rugby World Cup.

Y!NZ Sport: This year I will be spending Christmas…
Mole in the Camp:  Well, I can’t give too much away on that one as I have to keep my Mole identity a secret, but it will involve spending time with the family and a beer or two.

Y!NZ Sport:  Which Knights player would buy the best Christmas presents…

Mole in the Camp:  Who’s not cheap with their money, that’s the question… ha nah, it’s not about the money, eh!

I would probably have to say that Brad Wilson would probably buy the most thoughtful present for someone - there would definitely be a good reason behind it.

Y!NZ Sport:   And who would buy the worst?

Mole in the Camp:  Probably Scott Styris. Only because it would probably just take the mickey out of you, and he would make sure it was the worst present because that is his sense of humour.

Y!NZ Sport:   What is the worst Christmas gift you have ever received?

Mole in the Camp:  Someone once bought me a metal billycan. That was cool and all, but I don’t even own a tent!

Y!NZ Sport:   Which Knights player has the best dance moves?

Mole in the Camp:  I’d have to say Trent Boult. He loves entertaining!

Y!NZ Sport:   And the worst?

Mole in the Camp:  That would be James Marshall, he has a serious phobia of dancing.

Y!NZ Sport:   Which Knights player would be on Santa’s naughty list this year?

Mole in the Camp:  There are too many good lads at the Knights, you wouldn’t find one of our players on the naughty list.

They are such disciplined boys and pretty much every other first class team would vouch for that.

Y!NZ Sport:   Tells us one thing people might not know about the Northern Knights…

Mole in the Camp:  We actually sometimes fly to some of our home games, with is pretty random for a first class side…

Y!NZ Sport:   And finally…what are your hopes for 2012, sporting or otherwise?

Mole in the Camp:  Obviously to capture some trophies - there is a big game at the start of the season against Auckland in the HRV Cup.

We are doing well in the four-dayers and gaining some momentum in the one dayers, so we just need to carry on with our consistent performance and land ourselves some trophies, because that’s what it is all about!

And obviously get as many fans as we can behind us this year, starting with our Boxing Day “test” against the defending champions, the Aces.

Have a Merry Christmas guys and a happy and safe New Year,

Cheers, "The Mole"
